Unfortunately, May did not bring very much of the anticipated rain. Farmers, crops, and animals are struggling. Most of the electricity functions because of dams, and they are extremely low. If there is not significant rainfall soon, electricity will begin to be rationed to a few hours on, a few hours off. As you can imagine, the electricity situation as well as the crop damage could bring significant hardships to this country we love, and we would appreciate your prayers that God would send rain.
The church in Planes continues to steadily grow. A couple of weeks ago, 2 precious souls were saved in our Wednesday evening service. Praise God! The church was able to purchase ceramic to put on the platform of the building. It is a great improvement, and the people seem very pleased with it. We would love to be able to put in a ceiling and tile throughout the building soon. There are upcoming special revival services this month that we have been promoting, with a special guest speaker. Please keep these in prayer. Also, continue to pray for Juan Carlos that he would continue to mature and grow in the Lord.
We are prayerfully considering purchasing our own vehicle very soon. We had a huge prayer request answered when our travel trailer that we used for deputation finally sold. Thank you, Lord, for working in this situation! We are able to purchase a vehicle with this money, and need your prayers for wisdom as to which vehicle the LORD would have us purchase. This will greatly improve our mobility, effectiveness, and efficiency here on the property. If you prayed with us for this need, THANK YOU!
For the last week and a half, we have had a missions intern from Crown College here with us, Abby Gallego. She will be here for another couple of weeks. She has jumped right in with responsibilities and forming relationships, and we are blessed to have her. So far, she has been able to teach a Sunday school class at the church in Planes, help out in the kitchens, school, and with our special needs children. Beth and Abby share a desire to help people and a love of coffee, so this internship has been enjoyable to all.
One of our wonderful supporting churches in Connecticut sent a significant sum of money to help with food costs here on the property. We purchased quite a bit of corn with the money and it was a huge blessing. Another church in Connecticut sent money to help with startup costs of starting another church. What a privilege to be partnering with people who want to see differences made for eternity. Praise God for the opportunity to be His hands and feet in the world!
June brings birthdays for both of our girls. Charlotte will be 4 and Clara will turn 1. Also, the nurse who is on deputation to come here and help us, Carol Carney, will be visiting for a few weeks. We are excited to have her here, and are praying for her support to be raised quickly. The medical needs we have seen just on our property this month could fill up another letter. This summer brings several groups to our property and we are thrilled about that. Please don’t hesitate to schedule your own trip here to see what God is doing and to see your missions dollars at work. May God bless each of you as you do the work He has called you to do.
“I have but one passion – it is He, it is He alone. The world is the field and the field is the world; and henceforth that country shall be my home where I can be most used in winning souls for Christ.” – Count Zinzindorf
